Bike wheels

Bike wheels must be different for mountain and road model frames because of the demands presented by differing terrain. For instance, mountain bikes have thicker frames to accommodate large, treaded tires. Road bikes have thinner tires/frames.

Some of the differing bike wheels include:
• 20” for most BMX bikes.
• 24”
• 26” (universal size)
• 29”

Most bike wheels are made from an aluminum alloy, which provides both speed and stability. Carbon fiber rims have a higher grade but they are very expensive. Road bike racers prefer carbon fiber because of its extremely light weight.
